THE RICHMOND TOURISM ORGANISATION

The Richmond Tourism Organisation (RTO) is the official Community Tourism Organisation (CTO), registered with the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), responsible for developing and promoting tourism in the region of Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal.

As a non-profit driven by locals, we coordinate tourism initiatives, support events, and partnerships that uplift the community and preserve our heritage.

RTO follows the KwaZulu-Natal CTO Strategy, is endorsed by the Richmond Local Municipality and operates independently of municipal structures, ensuring that tourism benefits are community-owned and community-led. From supporting eco-tourism and agritourism projects to restoring heritage spaces and running youth programs, RTO works behind the scenes to grow Richmond as a sustainable, inclusive destination.

Empowering Communities Through Tourism

The Richmond Tourism Organisation (RTO) is more than a tourism body — we are a registered non-profit Community Tourism Organisation (CTO) dedicated to building a better future for all who call Richmond home.

We run high-impact community development programs that align with South Africa’s national priorities: youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, mental health, skills development, and rural economic growth.

By supporting RTO’s programs, your company can earn BBBEE scorecard points, receive Section 18A tax benefits, and be part of real, visible change in a rural community with a big heart and bold vision.
